VOLUNTEER PROJECT

The Volunteer Project started in June 2007. Since that time the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator has contacted local groups/organisations finding out about current volunteering opportunities as well as identifying any gaps, both in Tinsley and Sheffield wide.

Potential volunteers' have a one-one meeting with the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to discuss their interests and personal aspirations to ensure that the volunteer placement is appropriate to support their future development. Placements have included admin support at the Forum; volunteering at the Community Café; support work at the Advice Service as well as outside activity on the allotment volunteering for the Tinsley Tree Project.

Recent Volunteer Activity

Volunteers' have also been recruited to support local events such as:

Volunteers' supported the Health and Information Day', preparing board displays, manning stalls and providing information to potential volunteers' about volunteering.

Volunteers supported the Community Fun Day carrying out parachute games, card making activities, volunteering in the community café and much, much more.,

Volunteers' also supported the summer trips organised by the Youth Development Worker.

Recently we held two 'Volunteering Opportunities and Training Information Events'. Representatives from local groups and training providers attended the events to provide information about their services and volunteers' were present to assist and make sure that everything ran smoothly.
