Membership of Tinsley Forum

The paid workers in Tinsley Forum are only part of the work we do. We have over 400 local residents on our mailing list, with more than 150 members. Regular public meetings are organised for everyone to discuss current issues of concern. These discussions can have a real influence on what happens in and around Tinsley.

History of Tinsley Forum   Tinsley Forum was formed in 1985 when local groups and individuals joined together with the local authority to develop and review annually a corporate plan for Tinsley. Since then Tinsley Forum has continued to work to improve the quality of life for Tinsley residents. It became a company limited by guarantee in October 1999 and began employing its own staff then, initially based in Tinsley Methodist Church. The old Catholic Church (now Tinsley One Stop Shop) was purchased in 2001 with funds from SRB4 and Capital Receipt monies from the sale of Parkhouse School. Staff moved into the One Stop Shop in June 2001, and Sheffield College started running community development courses in Sept 2002. Past successes have included the link bridge between Tinsley and Supertram, setting up Tinsley Trust Fund, re-funding of Tinsley Advice Service, a founder member of SRB4, new medical practice at Ingfield Avenue, helped save Highgate surgery and Tinsley Post Office, Tinsley Tree Project, East End Quality of Life Initiative, Tinsley Sure Start, Tinsley Recreation Ground Regeneration (and Tinsley Green), Tinsley and Darnall On-Track Programme - to name just a few.
